You both speak of an Adna Chaffee. I have Records of Chaffees form Orwell, Ohio. If it's the same one, his father was Truman Chaffee and was one of 13 children. He was a Lt.Gen. and is buried at Arlington. Let me explain a little more-we may be cousins! There were three boys born to a Clifford Chaffee(1760-?),Goerge H.(1798-1844) ,Phillander(1788-?), and Truman(1804-1861) (Adna's father). One brother was said to have lived in the New England area, one to have moved to the Ohio-PA area, and the other out west. I'm from the George H. line. He was my ggggranddad and it was said that he moved back to the Ohio area after a run in with some bad luck out west. I'm originally from the Ohio valley, Columbiana County.Back to the story. . . George had 2 sons-Harv(1833-?) and Phillander(1842-1918). Phillander had 2 children, Molly and George(who was my ggranddad) plus 2 half bros., Ted and Bob Chaffee. My ggrandad had 11 children, one of whom is my granddad, James E. Chaffee, who had 6 kids, one of whom is my dad,Dan D. Chaffee of Salem, OH. Confusing, isn't it? Ihope I've been of some help. Please notify me of any more info you may come across.
