Jerome Chaffee and Eugene Chaffee

I was nosing around on a search engine, and came across Chaffee County, Colorado, again. It was named after Jerome B. Chaffee, and it was formed in 1879 from Lake County, CO. Oh this forum I found one brief mention that he might have been a senator. Does anyone have more information on him?

Also, in 1932, Dr. Eugene Chaffee and 7 other instructors became the first faculty of Boise Junior College. He was its guiding force for 31 years. He died in 1992. Does anyone have more information on him?
