Hi there .. I don't know how this relates to you but I note that Bessie Wright Cotton the daughter of John Cotton and Frances Marvel married Jonathan Irvin Chaffee. (There are many spellings). But they were both born in Mass not Miss. These are the only Cotton's mentioned in the Chaffee Genealogy book (1909). Jonathan was born in 1861. Maybe these Cottons are "cousins"?
