Kathleen,

Holy cow, I think I may have solved this mystery. I think that Porter Myron is the son of Oliver Bugbee Chaffee. I actually found Oliver Bugbee in a tree that you posted! Check out the 1860 census for "Oliver B Chaffee". No Porter there, but then check the 1850 census for "Oliver Chafue". Same kids, same family. In 1860 it looks like "Porter", but in 1850 the name looks like "Peter" but has the added initial M. The birth dates and locations match up so I think census spelling errors have made this tuff. Oliver also shows up in a Iowa cencus where all the kids including Porter and wife Malvina are listed. What do you think? Is this Oliver B Chaffee the same person as your Oliver Bugbee Chaffee? If so, I have found my great great great grandfather.
