Local Happenings
Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Chaffee are leaving today for California. Mr. Chaffee who was in the Chronicle office yesterday stats that he has been in this vicinity 82 years, having come in 1840. His father took up 500 acres of government land of which A.D. still holds the patent as it was then called. Mr. and Mrs. Chaffee's relatives live in the west, and they are to spend their remaining days in that land of sunshine and flowers. John W. Chaffee of Stewart State bank is a nephew.
