Hmm Im not sure about the middle initial. The 1850 Census does not show him (Porter) with a middle initial but he does show up as Porter Min 1870's census. What is interesting is that there is a Myron Chaffee b. 1838, son of Rober C. Chaffee and Sophia Russell.I've noticed people will switch their first and middle namesand/or just use initials. The Chaffee Genealogy book only offers one Porter and thats Porter P shown as the son of Ira and Hannah. Interesting that Porter M. was not picked up in the book, if he is indeed a different individual.
