Brenda, did your great grandmother's papers stem from family knowledge or from research? I ask because "The Chaffee Genealogy," by William H. Chaffee, contains this same info. But what intrigues me is that on page 142, under Thomas Chaffe, Jr., it mentions the Golden Wedding celebration of Thomas Jr's son and daughter-in-law, Wolcott and Abigail (Kingsley) Chaffe, and states that "on this occasion Thomas S. Chaffe [Wolcott's brother] gave a history of the Chaffe family, which together with an account of the celebration was printed in pamphlet form." I've wondered if that pamphlet, or copies of it, might have been handed down within the family. Thomas Jr's sister, Abigail Chaffee, and her husband, Amos Watkins, were my 3rd great-grandparents. Abigail apparently died sometime before Dec. 1837, because that's when Amos remarried. There's no mention in the Chaffee book as to when or where Abigail died, and I've wondered if that pamphlet, prepared in 1868, might say.
