Gail,
There is a book on the James Chadwick family from China, Maine...however it only takes the families to the 3rd generation (early 1800's). It is available at the FHL micro film # 0844962. You will have to do some research taking your relatives back to this family. As you are descended from a male Chadwick this should be easier than you think as most of the Chadwick children were either female or male children that died without having any children (at least according to this book). From the book (many of these I have confirmed with VR, but many are not):
Male children that could have had children were:
John (son of John) born 1784 married Mary Stevens
Sylvanus (son of James) born abt. 1788 married Eunice Webber
Henry (son of James) born 1783 married Patience Kelly
Paul (son of Job) born 1787, married Hanna Leeman...he was murdered 1809
Lot 2nd (son of Job) born 1792 married Sally Linn
David (son of Judah) born 1796 married Mary Chapman
Jason (son of Judah) born 1799 married Rebecca Hamlin
Abel (son of Judah) born 1802 married Elizabeth Starrett
Corydon (son of Judah)born ? married Cyrene Hamlin
Joseph (son of Judah) no information
Stephen (son of Lot) 2 marriages (to Ruth Dennis and Margaret Plummer), 8 children
Benjamin (son of Lot) married Susan Light
Joseph (son of Lot) married Mary W. Longfellow
Francis C. (son of Lot) married Hannah Staples

I know this list looks long, but there are 40 other children...either female or males with no children...listed in this book.

There are also a couple of other books (according to the FHL catalog) on this Chadwick family...maybe one of them carries the family to later generations (I haven't looked at them yet). Do a search on the Chadwick surname in their catalog.

If I find out anything that will help with the connection, I will post it.
