My father was Samuel Chadwick born in St Helens on 31.01.1911, he was the son on John Chadwick born in Chorley Lancashire, about 1879/1880. He married Sarah Ann Dempsey of Wigan Lancashire on the 10 December 1900 and he die on the 10 December 1950 in St Helens. He was a Clogger, shoe maker by trade and came to St Helens to open up shop near to Pilkingtons Plate Glass factory. Although I met one of his sister Elizabeth Ann Chadwick (married name Clare) in Chorley, never knew any of his other siblings or anything about his parents. Does anyone out there know anything about this family.
PS. The business about the Sir Andrew Chadwick grew out of all proportion following a TV programme saying there was a large unclaimed fortune. If everyone who thought they were descendents claimed there would have been very little to divide up and to date no one knows who belongs to who or if there is a fortune to claim. I think everyman and his dog claimed to be descended from Sir Andrew. By the way he came from the Chorley area of Lancashire.
