There are online records in Canada you can search.Not knowing the Province he went to might be a problem, and he may have lived in more than one Province. So you may have to also search immigration shipping records also, to at least know where he landed: New Brunswick? Quebec? He probably left from Liverpool. You have his approx age so that might help.
Also you might try posting your query on 'Rootschat'. Perhaps on the Lancashire thread or the Canada thread. People are very helpful on there. It is free to join and you keep your privacy.
