Over the years I have seen that several Chadwell families claimed Bill "Chadwell", aka "Stiles", or whatever, and there does't seem to be any proof of a relationship except hand-me-down stories. For some reason everyone wants a bank robber in their past. My grandfather, b. 1862, said that Bill was his brother and visited many times in Indiana, one time with Jesse, but the family records don't show any such person. The best accounting of Bill that I have read is in John Koblas' book "The Jesse James Northfield Raid - Cofessions of the Ninth Man." For many years I thought "Bill" was my great uncle - not so, I'm afraid. As I have said before, if anyone has real proof that such a Chadwell existed, and was the infamous bank robber, we all need to see it.
