Hello fellow Yoltons! My name is Carol Ebendick (nee Yolton). I live in Wyandotte, MI. My father is John Douglas Yolton, formerly of Moline, Ill. and currently living in Detroit, MI. His father was John Myron Yolton, also of Moline and previously from Port Byron, ILL. Grandpa's siblings were James Yolton, who recently passed away and resided in Florida, Dorothy Yolton of Rock Island, ILL (deceased) and Halcyon (Hallie) Yolton, also deceased. Myron Yolton was my great-grandfather, and live in Port Byron, Ill. Interestingly, my great grandfather was a headmaster of a boys school, James was a Lutheran college geology professer in East Orange, NJ, and my sister, Holly (nee Yolton) is a kindergarten teacher in Arizona.I also have a sister, Nancy, who also lives in Michigan. Many educators in "our" family. My father, John Douglas, was the President of the AFL in the Quad Cities in the 60's before Walter Reuther brought him to Deroit to take a position with the International UAW. He was also a professional boxer with a terrific record and Golden Goves champ! I don't quite know how I fit in with the other branches of the family tree, but it really has been interesting learning about all of you. Yolton is such a unique name, at times hard to pronounce for some of my teachers and friends, but I always felt "special" because of my name. I wonder if eny of you felt the same? |
