The earliest know Yoho (Joho) is one Routschmann Joho circa 1395 to circa 1434 in Baden Switzerland. The German "J" is pronounced the same as the English "Y". At some point following the arrival in America of Johannes and Susanna Joho in 1738, the spelling was changed to "Y" to reflect the English pronounciation. French speaking Johos pronounce the "J" as an English "J". For much more info regarding this subject visit Tim Yoho's web site at: www.lup.edu/~tyoho/
