looking for additional info: Asher Perry Wyckoff Union Artillery 1st Regiment, Ohio Light Artillery and Union Cavalry 3rd Regiment, Iowa Cavalry. He was born Nov. 28, 1821, in Kentucky, married in Sangamon county, Oct. 15, 1840 to Samuel and Rebecca Darneille Wyckoff. He married Sarah M. He was born 23 JUN 1848 in New York . He married Miss. Mary C Kate Downs. He died 16 FEB 1937 in Massena, Cass Co, Iowa . His Obit. Massena Last Civil War Vet Dies Here Today - S.D. Wyckoff, 89, Massena last civil war veteran & pioneer resident of that community, passed away at 1:45 this afternoon at the Atlantic hospital following a lingering illness. He had been a patient at the hospital 13 days & death was attributed to infirmities of his advanced age. Mr. Wyckoff operated a farm near Massena for a lond period of years & retired several years ago. During the last few years he had been living with his son, John Wyckoff, & family, on a farm near Massena. He was born June 23, 1848, in New York State, a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Martin Wyckoff. Mr. Wyckoff served four years with the Union forces during the Civil War. Although he saw action in a large number of minor & major battles, he never was wounded. He enlisted with Iowa Company K & was a member of the famous Iowa Hornets Nest brigade. He saw service in the battle of Shiloh, in the battle of the wilderness, & marched with General Sherman to the sea. He was a director of Edna township school No. 9 for a long period of years & had been a member of the Methodist church since boyhood. Mr. Wyckoff had resided at Massena more than a half century. Mrs. Wyckoff died a number of years ago. Surviving are three children, John Wyckoff of near Massena, Henry Wyckoff of Kimball, Nebraska & Mrs. Ada Moody of Moreland, Nebraska. Funeral arrangments have not been completed. Military rities are being planned, however.
