Elizabeth Collins hotel was first called the Mountain View Hotel and then later the Collins Hotel.
From the Platte County Heritage Book it states that the son Ben F. Collins was b. in Arkansas in 1889. The family moved to Oklahoma and then to Harville,Wy in the early 1900s. Bens parents were Elizabeth and Benjamin H. Collins. Elizabeth once ran an eating house at the Hartville Junction. Elizabeth and Benjamin homesteaded north of Glenda as did his brother George. For a time, Elizabeth ran a rooming and eating house near the present day town Hall. In 1917 Ben and his mother built the Mountain View Hotel. George Collins was the carpenter.
There is more about Ben and the different establishments they had.. It states that Elizabeth died in 1938 at the age of 79. Ben married Virginia Whitaker.
There is a lady in Glendo that knows about this family.
