Based on what you have described of his service and looking at my husband's WWII medals here is what he at would have issued: WWII Victory Medal Purple Heart European-African-Eastern Campaign Medal American Campaign Medal Combat Infantry Badge If his Army Unit received any Presidential Unit Citations he would have been issued a blue ribbon. 1985 Congress created the POW Medal retroactive back to WWII. Might have been issued a American Defense Medal. My husband has a long multicolored ribbon bar with one little star. The colors are representative of the colors on medal ribbons and the star represents participation in a certain type of military campaign. He would were this in lieu of actual medals. If he was issued any more unit or individual special citations of medals, ribbons or stars then would need Military records. |
