Is there a US Navy expert out there who could help my husband with his search for his biological father.

We have found out that his father was in the US Navy in 1944 (2nd World War)and based in Penryn, Cornwall, England. We have been trying for 5 years to find which US Navy units were left in PENRYN/ FALMOUTH area Christmas 1944 (6 months after D-Day) but do not know how to find out. No one in the US military replies. We do not know his father's name but we understand that he was living locally rather than on a ship and was an officer. He obviously had access to stores because he provided the food for a relative's wedding in August 1944. I have looked at the Seabees (81st) but it looks like they left the area in August 1944. We only found out 5 years ago that his father was not his biological father and there is no one left of that generation to ask. We have gleaned all the information we can and have hit a brick wall. He has had 3 DNA tests with 4 major DNA web sites but no match yet. Can anyone help us?
