You can "find more info" (actually, FACTS) by referring to the Veteran's Discharge Documents. The Veteran was provided with 6-10 copies when he was discharged from the US Army after V-E Day. Then, of course, you could read the unit history of the 44th Infantry Division, a copy of which I have in my library. Excellent unit history, published by Albert Love Enterprises of Atlanta, Georgia.
