I know this might be like looking for a needle in a haystack but I am trying to help a friend.

She is looking for her birth father. He doesn't even know about her.

The soldier was in the US Army stationed in the London area during the spring/summer of 1944.

The birth mothers name was Edith Hilda Cooper and was born in 1927, her parents were Henry Cooper and Edith Lilly Stone.

Edith Hilda dated a US Army soldier stationed in the London area and he was shipped back to the states before Edith knew she was pregnant.

Edith gave up the child for adoption and wants no part of the child who is now 66 yrs old.

It might be doubtful that the birth father is still alive, but he might like to know about his daughter. If not, then she will understand. She is just curious to know what he was like and he name.

Does anyone know where we might start looking? I am in Iowa and my friend is in the greater London area and so we would both be able to check some sources via the internet.

Thanks to anyone who can help.
