Hello Forum and Happy 2004 New Year,
Today I received my Father's military papers from the National Personnel Records, St. Louis, Missouri.
The papers state that on October 29, 1944 he was received at Landing Craft Repair Unit, Navy 3205 on Admiralty Island, Manus.
Does anyone have any information about this unit? My Dad was somehow injured there and transferred off the Island and sent to Oakland Naval Hospital in December of 1944. Evidently, his injuries were not battle related as he did not receive any type of Medal for them. It states "not due to misconduct". His MOS was a "Crane Operator", so were they possibly building an air strip on the Island?
My Dad, Berlyn Joseph Parcell aka "Dick" died as a result of his injuries in December of 1956, therefore, I am unable to question him about this.
I did try an internet search for this Unit, as suggested by MSG #10907, but nothing came up.
I would appreciate any information about this unit.
Thank you for your time,
