Thanks, got the WW1 battles the 59th was involved in but not anything specific to Pte Cornelius L Hickey. I was alerted to his WW1 military service after finding his grave (died Dec 20, 1970) in Atoka, OK described as a "military marker." Does this mean he actually went to France and was on active service?
He was later a member of the American Legion and The "Elks" are these related to military service? Would he have had a service number and personal file and where might I find it?
Having been drafted from CA, does this mean the unit was organised according to his home state of origin?
