Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. Since posting this message, I have learned a few more details about Asa's time in the military:

6/6/1918: Asa completed the WWI Draft Registration Card
8/28/1918: Asa was enlisted in the Army (Adrian, MI, Board 1)
11/4/1918: (Published in Adrian paper) Asa is transfered from 77th Infantry to the Signal Corps at Camp Custer
11/10/1918: (Letter from Asa to his mother; published in Adrian paper) Asa signs the letter as a Corporal, Co. H, 77th Inft, Camp Custer
1/17/1919: Asa was released
6/27/1984: Asa passed away; headstone is military issue and states:

Asa L Vaughn
Pvt US Army
(Has a cross)

So, not sure if, with this new information, anyone can provide additional information... but if you can, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you again!
