I am searching for the Ancestors of John Morrison born est. 1801 in VA or possibly WV. (1860 Census shows b. 1796 in PA) and died after 1860 census. He married Sarah Ankrim born est. 1799 in VA and died before the 1860 census. They were married on 15 Apr 1824 in Lawrence County. They had five sons; Samuel, William, James A., John, and Thomas Wilson Morrison.

I have always believed that John Morrison (born est. 1801) was the son of John, Samuel or William Morrison (Morrisson) who were all of the age and location in Lawrence Co. in 1820 to fit as his father. The most logical choices being Samuel or William who lived in Fayette Twp at that time just as my John Morrison did from at least 1828 through 1850.

A confusing issue to the information above is that in 1843, Thomas W. Morrison purchased land in Fayette Twp from Wm McCoy. In 1864, a Quit Claim deed was issued for that same property to the heirs of Thomas W. Morrison. The heirs that were listed were the children of John Morrison detailed in my first paragraph above. I suppose, Thomas W. Morrison could have been an Uncle or the Grandfather of those children with no other heirs; or that he also went by the given name John???

Descendents of this family moved to Catlettsburg, KY; Carter Co., KY; Perry Co, OH; Gibson Co., TN; Cleburne, Johnson Co., TX. I would be happy to share any Morrison information I have.
