True, but never to the extent as when the white man came on the scene. It was commonly deemed more effective to ridicule your enemy than to kill him. It seems like you're proud the way things turned out (superior enemy). Besides, the white were far inferior in numbers, if not necessarily in weapons technology. The only way the whites "won" was by befriending the natives and breaking those friendships, backstabbing and breaking of treaties. The bad thing is it's continuing today on a much larger scale, not with indians but with the rest of the "uncivilized" world. Maybe that's just the way evolution goes, it rewards the backstabbing.
