I am VERY proud to be an INDIAN...I call myself Indian even though I look IRISH as my mother is Irish/Scotch but more proud to be one of the FIRST people who settled here and suffered the persecutions more than a black person.
How would anyone feel to be told "NO THIS IS NOT YOUR LAND" even though you worked it and grew from it...even though you hunt and fished for your family...How could anyone sit and ask me how I felt after someone starves and deprives you of what was once was YOURS! My grgrandmother was Cherokee and just not long ago I found a Chief that was a cousin who fought at Little Big Horn as well as Wounded Knee. My husband plan a trip to a Nation Wide Pow Wow this Sept and tour Ft Yates as well as other Fts. Also I plan on paying my respects to his grave...I am VERY PROUD OF MY ANCESTORS..
My Grgrandmother was a slave to an Irish family...given their last name and forced to dress as they did...the only good thing was that she met my grgrandfather and was allowed to live as she wanted and pay homage to her spiritual upbringing (BTW I follow)She learn to read, write and lived a good life...
My grgrandfather was German but he knew what life was like being persecuted...he left Europe because of religion and government...
