A household in the 1850 census in Marshal Co., MS that was headed by Elijah Wooten (b. 1807 SC) includes Sarah Wooten (b. 1815 TN) and 6 Brown children and two young Wooten children. The Brown children were all born in MS and they were: Henry, 16; Dolly Ann, 13; Allen M., 12, Darris/Dorris (male), 11; Cronico, 9; and Nancy, 8. The two Wooten chilren, both born in TN, were Mary J., 4, and Sarah E., 2. It appears that Sarah Wooten may have been married to a Brown first and had these children, then married Elijah Wooten. Does anyone know if this is the case, and if so, does anyone know the name of her Brown husband? |
