"I am wondering if Joseph & Gideon were the sons of Hugh WILSON who died in Chester County in 1725, the same year the widow Ann appears on the tax list next to Joseph."

Yes - they are sons of Hugh Willson. They also have a young brother William. Here's Hugh's Will abstract:

WILSON, HUGH. Fallowfield.
April 12, 1725. September 2, 1725. Book A-175.

To daughter Katherine Wilson 10. To son Gideon 15. Also 50 acres of the land I bought from Geo. Leonard. To son Samuel the remainder of land bought of Leonard, being 150 acres, when he is of age, he paying to his 2 youngest sisters Marth and Sarah Wilson 14 each, when of age. Provides for wife Ann and a possible child. To son William a heifer. To son Joseph wearing apparel and gun.
Executors: Adam Boyd and John Devor.
Witnesses: Arthur Parke, William Wilson.

You will find Hugh first appears in the 1715 Whiteland Twp tax list. There is no other Willsons/Wilsons listed. His Will abstract of 1725:

I think that William listed in Hugh's Will is either his brother or his father...not is son; as it appears that William was a minor.

There's a very real possibility my Willson clan connect to Hugh's people; my people came from Sadsbury Twp to Augusta Co, Va around 1745-early 1750s. Sadsbury & Fallowfield split from each other shortly after Hugh died.

My direct ancestor Maj. William Wilson who was brother to Capt. George and Capt. Samuel (Samuel married Mary Babb from West Caln Twp, d-o Peter Babb). The brothers moved to Augusta Co and served in the Rev War there. Capt Samuel was killed at The Battle of Point Pleasant and left 4 young children.

Capt George, Maj William, and Capt Samuel's father was James Willson in court documents. But I can't find any James Willson in that area of Pennsylvania other than in a tax list of Caln Twp (where Peter & daughter Mary were). I think the two James are the same, but I'd like some documentation to be sure.
