The 1870 Glascock Co, GA census shows an Elizabeth Gaulding in the the household of William Willson, age 66, w/m born in Scotland. Also shown is a Sarah, no last name, age 65, w/f, listed as Domestic. Does this mean she was some type of servant in that household or that she was William's wife. Guessing that Elizabeth Gaulding might be mother-in-law to William.
Looking to find a home for my Abraham/Abram Willson/Wilson who was born somewhere in GA ca 1851. I have nothing to help me identify his parents or siblings. He is shown on the Morgan Co, AL census in 1870, gets married in Lawrence Co, AL that same year and apparently needs permission to marry; guessing his age was the problem. A Crosby couple send a note to the Lawrence Co, AL Probate County judge granting their permission for the marriage. Could Abe's parents have lived too far away to give permission or attend the wedding?
Apparently, Abraham/Abram Willson/Wilson was born in GA ca 1851 but GA is a big state when trying to comb thru census records. Also don't know if Abraham/Abram was his first or middle name. He must have been in GA on some 1860 census somewhere but without correct name, how do I find him? Abe did name his first and only child, William which makes me wonder if his father's name was William. Family stories say that his earlier ancestors were probably from NC, SC or possibly, TN.
Anybody missing a Willson/Wilson? Any help appreciated.
