It's been a long while since I had anything new to post...

I've finally found where John McCurdy Williamson was in 1847.
John enlisted in the army for the Mexican War in Millersburg, Rutherford County, TN in October of 1847.

One of the things I recall being mentioned by a cousin before she passed away (she was Johns grandaughter) was that he had come from a town in Tennessee with the word Spring in the name, that covers a lot of towns... but, Big Spring is right by Millersburg and is a distinct possibility.

A family bible shows John's parents as John Williamson and Harriet McCurdy.
Depending on which census I choose to go with the elder John was either from Ireland, or Virginia, or Tennessee. Harriet was reported as born in South Carolina.

John McCurdy was born in 1819, probably in Tennessee and married Sarah Fox in Alexander County, IL in 1863, they had 7 children
Florence
Amanda Lucinda
James Harris
Arminta Jane
John Anderson
Elijah Harris

Recurring names that I know of - John, Elijah, Harris, Anderson and McCurdy were all used as first and/or middle names for the children of the above list.

Part of the family did move to Poinsett County, Arkansas for a time in the 1920's I think they had family in the area, but can't be sure.

DNA matching confirms I have connections to other Williamsons who can tie to Wilson County, TN, which borders Rutherford, and I know some of the Williamson families in Wilson and Williamson counties were related...

Does anyone have any information on Williamson's in Rutherford in the 1840's?

TIA,
Jim Williamson
