Need assistance from anyone who knows the final resting place of the elusive Thomas Williamson.
Thomas Williamson is my gg grandfather, and all his siiblings have now been accounted for, but he remains an enigma.
Thomas was born in 1855 in Melbourne, Victoria, to John Williamson and Louisa Walker.
He married Mary Ann McCoy ( daughter of Thomas McCoy and Elizabeth Hammerton) in 1876 in the Congregational Church, in St.Kilda, Victoria.
They had four children ( that we know of). Alfred John b. 1879 in St.Kilda, Ethal b. 1882 in Emerald Hill (Sth. Melbourne), Florance b. 1883 in Emerald Hill, and my g grandfather George Tasman Willimason in Launceston, Tasmania.
Mary Ann McCoy dies in Bourke New South Wales in 1896 ( from effects of poisoning - suicide). Thomas Williamson does not seem to be around. Her death certificate does not list her children's names, but says there were five children. Is this an error, or is there a missing fifth child?
Thoams Williamson was a tailor by trade. So was his brother Moses, who travelled across teh countryside. he lived in Melbourne, York, WA, Launceston, Tasmania & Newcastle, NSW.
Thomas had another brother Aaron, b. 1869 in St.Kilda, d. 1891 in Hawthorn, Victoria.
Thoams had four sisters. Lydia b. 1866 in St.Kilda, d. 1887 in St.Kilda.
His other three sisters, Miriam, Rachael and Pheobe all married.
Miriam . 1859 in Collingwood, married James McFarlane in 1882 in the Erskine Church in Fitzroy. They had 11 children.
Rachael b. 1857 in Collingwood, married 1. James Fergusson in Benalla, and had one daughter Louisa Hypathia. Rachael was widowed rwo years into this mariage. She later married George Croft (Dobell) in 1891 in Sydney. They had two children.
Pheobe b. 1861 in Collingwood, married Henry Brooks in 1890, in Balaclava. They had no children.
All three of these sisters and their respective families emigrated to the USA in 1905, 1906 and 1912(?).
They jouned teh sect Israelite House of David, in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
As you can see, I have been able to find out a lot about Thomas' siblings, but not Thomas himself.
Where did he go?????
Please, anyone with any information, or connection with this family, please feel free to correspond.
Thank you!!
