Williams, Calvin W. 1 Nov 1891 - 29 Jul 1972, husband of Nellie. "... served in the Can. Mounted Police in WW1. He trapped and broke mustangs, sheared sheep, and mined in Nevada, Oregon, and Idaho. We recently buried Dean Collette's ashes near Grandpa Ruggles' grave. Dean was married to Art Sr.'s widow, Mathilde Fouquet (Ruggles) Collette, for @ ten years. (Grandma is still going strong at 92, and plans to rest between the two men she loved.)" Arla Bynum "Calvin Wyatt Williams was born November 1, 1892 in El Paso, Texas. His father (Frank Williams) was killed in the late 1890's and Cal came north from Texas herding a band of sheep when he was about 7 years old with his mother (Annie Porter Williams Monroe), step-father (Tom Monroe), and two sisters (Hazel Francis "Fannie" Williams and Daisy Williams). They were living in Malheur Co., Oregon in 1900 (census information). I am a genealogy nut, and these little details are important to me, so could you correct his birthplace? I would appreciate it. I have been trying to find record of Cal's father in Texas/New Mexico prior to his demise. Just maybe someone will see the information on your site, recognize the family name, and contact us. ... He did serve with the Canadian Remount in WWI in France. His story about signing up included massive amounts of alcohol and the term "shanghaied".
