The Frederick W. Wientge I am researching listed his birthplace as "U S of A" on his New Mexico Militia Muster Roll in 1896. He listed his occupation as "jeweler". He joined the New Jersey State National Guard from 1876 to 1883 when he moved to New Mexico. He joined the New Mexico Milita as a 2nd Lt. in 1886 and was appointed 1st Lt. in Rough Riders in may 1898. I have been trying to find out how to get U.S. Census for N. Y. for 1860, 1870 or 1880. The census would probably provide the information we are both seeking. I feel the Wientge you are looking for and Frederick W. Wientge are probably related in some way. If I find anything else I will post it here and would youplease do the same.
