I have posted previously, in my search for my great-grandfather, George Eugene Brown.
[It is possible his middle name was added by his adoptive parents, Joseph & Elizabeth (Breed) Baker, who raised him in San Augustine, TX (Joseph's father had Eugene as a middle name); Joseph died in 1864; Elizabeth & George were in Wisconsin in 1870, then returned to Augustine, Texas.]
My brother has done DNA testing, and we are a part of Brown Group 10.
One census recording George, 1900, shows his parents as born in Alabama.
Following that lead, we have found a George Brown, listed along with a Samuel & Virginia Brown, at the bottom of a census listing for the family of Wilie/Wiley Brown (1829-1907), in Burnt Corn, Monroe County, Alabama, in 1860. In looking at an 1850 Census in Conecuh, Alabama, it appears that Wiley was the son of Willis William Brown (born in Sparta, Hancock, Georgia in 1801, died 1868 Sepulga Fork, Conecuh, Alabama).
I am looking for any information that may shed light on the parentage of George (Eugene) Brown (born 1856).
And I would be delighted to hear from anyone who knows anything this Samuel Brown (abt 1853) or Virginia Brown (abt 1855).
