Edwin C. Kellogg is in Oshkosh City Directories from 1866 through 1884/5, but not by 1886/7. He lived on Washington Avenue, a common address for those doing well in the lumber business. This means he will be in the second ward of the city in the 1870 and 1880 censuses. There were many other Kelloggs in town, including a Rufus who was a banker, moved to Green Bay and died in 1891 while visiting out east. Edwin has not been identified as serving in the Civil War. Some obit indexing has been done for the late 1880s thru 1894 and Edwin does not appear. Will report further as I get a chance to check sources.
