Kendell, I found your family in the 1930 and 1930 censuses matching John Whitson with his wife's name. In 1920 she is Rissa Jane. I also found him in the WW I draft registration and the NC death certificates which gives his parents' names. (I used Ancestry.com) Let me know if you need more help. Margaret
