Did you get the most recent issue of the PCFR Quarterly?
If so you've already seen this, but if not-
Roger found the following in NC General Assembly Session Records-
Between Nov. 1832 and Jan 1833:
"Bill to alter the name and legitimate William White, who was educated by and lived in the house of Hillery Whitehurst of Beaufort County as his illegitimate child, now to be known as William Whitehurst."
I just thought that was interesting.
Now on another note. I'm still plagued by doubts about assigning Samuel Whitehurst Sr. of Pitt County as a son of Batson. I don't remember finding any records linking Samuel and Batson. However, there is at least one Martin County deed of Hillery that was witnessed by Samuel Sr. And then Hillery deeds to Samuel Jr. later. Any thoughts or comments?
Now one more question. I know we have mentioned this subject before , but I have been away from the Whitehursts for so long my memory fails me. I am interested in the Reuben Whitehurst/Lavinia Taylor marriage. Can you remind me again about the source of that. I am interested in trying to document that marriage for my records and then in working on the Taylor family.
Thanks a bunch,
