I know it sounds absurd, but the federal government did approve some benefits for 1812 soldiers even if they served for as little as 14 days in the war. They were eligible for bounty land for their service. Can you share the name of the soldier and the regiment? In 1812, the regiments usually did not have numbers associated with them, they were just identified by the names of their commanding officers, usually a Colonel and a Captain.
