Searching for any military service (or other) info for a Francis Powley who came from western NY. Would have been a teenager during War of 1812. Survived the army's retrenchment in 1815 and was a Sgt at Sackets Harbor/Fort Pike in 1818 when he was courtmartialed for allowing a duel to take place between enlisted men under his command.
Returned to Niagara frontier after his service and late in life (1862-69) became lighthouse keeper at Ft Niagara, where he died on the job.
