The one war that I have not done much research on is 1812. I am not familiar with the online records available or where to write for records... the right forms etc... so... does anyone know anything about "39'Rifles"?
"U.S. Army, Register of Enlistments, 1798-1914
Name: John Pannel
"1255 Pannel, John 39' Rifles enlisted Nov. 18, 1813 in Knoxville, TN by Capt. Wm. Walker. Rectg. Ret. Knoxville, Tenn. Nov.22, 1813 Capt. Walker's Co., Certif. of disability dated Ft. TOULOUSE May 9, 1814 wounded through hip. Discharged at Charleston SC July 8, 1814 on Surg.'s Certif. See pension case." Where do I find this "Pension Case"? What battle could have he rec. that injury in? Why did they send him to Charleston when Ft. Toulouse was in Alabama? It was in Alabama right? Was this the Battle of Horseshoe Bend?
Any any information is GREATLY appreciated...
Thank you so much...
