Unfortunately there are no records of warrants that were sold or signed over to someone else.
You did the most logical thing by looking to see who patented the warrant. The sale of bounty warrants was pretty big business at the time. Really very few veterans actually settled on land they were warranted.
If your Timothy Hinman was living in Oneida County NY in 1842 when the warrant was granted there is a good chance that you have the right man.
