Melissa, Elihu's father was Harvey Trigg Wallin (7/6/1830-11/28/1910). He married Margaret "Peggy" Lawson (10/13/1829-11/14/1910). They are buried in the Hamilton cemetery in Red Bush,Johnson Co., KY. There is confusion as to Harvey's lineage. He is thought to be the son of Elisha Wallin/Walling, a descendent of the Longhunter Elisha. However, James and Hannah Carter are listed on Harvey's death record as parents. There are numerous typos and mistakes in these old (and new) records, so anyone's guess is good. Peggy is rumored to have been Cherokee from TN. No proof on that either. It would be quite nice to have some male descendents do some blood work to determine if we are Carters or Wallins if only to satisfy curiousity. ;-) I'm related by Harvey's son James Frasier>Russell Woodward>James Earl>Nancy.
