I have been trying to find out for a long time if WALLEN comes from WALLOON, a Frankish tribe that settled in what is now France and Belgium. It is possible that Walloons came to England after the Norman invasion of 1066, and the spelling eventually changed. Or WALLEN might come from GWALLWEN, which is Welsh. Ralph and Joyce Wallen came from London, so it could go either way. If anybody has any ideas, I would love to hear from you.
