Thank you so much for your information. I am not sure if it will help. I have had to accept that my Frances M. Wallen was born in 1843. There are just too many sources which indicate this (mulitiple census, death certificate, and grave stone marker). Strangely, this final blow to my theory about an 1840 birth came with the death certificate. My Grandfather was an historian and most likely helped his wife fill out the information for her Mother. I think he had come across the mystery before and just could not put down questionable information on his Mother-in-law's certificate. It simply stated _____ Wallen under father. I do believe that she was a Wallen but just how, may never be known. There is a possibility that one of James B. Wallen's brothers is the true Father or possibly she is the daughter of her teenage "sister", Theodocia. Her death certifiate did say that she was born in Crab Orchard, Kentucky. I thought that was a mistake since she did live there with her Mother and Step Father and most likely thought of it as home. I remain open to any suggestions. She was such a lovely woman and it would be wonderful to know her background. Thank you again for caring. This "brick walls" are so frustrating!!
