Here is something I've had in my HONEY family file that's always been a puzzle . . .

Claiborne Co.,TN Circuit Court Minutes - December Session
Book 71 - pg. 49 - Tuesday 19, December 1826

Lucy Wallin vs Wm. Beatty, John Lea, Daniel Huff

This day came Elisha Wallin into Open Court and surrendered the plaintiff. He decharged[sic] himself of her bail and thereupon came into open court John Honey and took upon himself that in case the plaintiff Lucy Wallin should be charged in this action and she shall pay the cost or surrender hereself in presence in execution for the same, the said John Honey will pay it for her.

List of jurors includes a John Wallin.

I've always wondered why my John Honey would pay this Lucy Wallin's bail? Was she his daughter who married a Wallin? I see some of these Wallen families ended up in Missouri as did John Honey's son Stephen Honey who in 1851 went to Maries, then Laclede Co., MO.
