I am posting this information about John, whom I believe is the son of Edward Walker, mariner - also some notes about John. Note that I corrected my posting # 27360 where I referenced that different John as possible son of Edward. This Lamkin family is interesting as they seem to have moved with descendants of Thomas Walker 1st, in VA & in MD. Descendants of John Walker 1 John Walker 1602 - 1664/65 .. +? 1611 - 1665 ... 2 Connegan Walker 1625 - ....... +Thomas Lamkin 1620 - 1665 ......... 3 John Lamkin 1648 - 1677 ......... 3 George Lamkin 1649 - 1691 ............. +Hannah Cox 1654 - 1744 ............... 4 George Lamkin II 1673 - 1727 ................... +Jane Ashton - 1744 ..................... 5 George Lamkin III ......................... +Hannah Atweel ..................... 5 Eleanor Lamkin ......................... +George Cox ..................... 5 Peter Lamkin 1690 - ..................... 5 Charles Lamkin 1718 - ......................... +Leannah Smith ............... 4 John Lamkin 1678 - ............... 4 Peter Lamkin 1678 - ............... 4 James Lamkin 1680 - 1750 ................... +Jane Johnstone ..................... 5 James Lamkin 1720 - 1750 ............... 4 Elizabeth Lamkin 1680 - ............... 4 Joseph Lamkin 1688 - ............... 4 Hannah Lamkin 1691 - ......... 3 Mary Lamkin 1650 - ......... 3 Thomas Lamkin 1652 - 1698 ............. +Susannah 1649 - ............... 4 Katherine Lamkin 1672 - ............... 4 Thomas Lamkin 1680 - 1750 ................... +Deborah Newcomb 1702 - 1749 ......... 3 Jamingham Lamkin 1643 - Notes for the above John for Tree of W. Ray Walker: "John could have perhaps have been connected to the family of Sir John Walker (a different prominent England family). However, John settled in the area near Thomas Walker, 1st, Edward Walker, etc. "He could have been the father of Thomas 1st and Capt Richard Walker, shown in Chapter 2 of this publication. In order to possibly connect him and help explain his subsequent descendants migration with Thomas 1st's family, he is shown as a likely son of Edward and his first wife, Susan. "Both John and Edward were said to have been born at the same birth place, which makes it seem likely that there was a close connection. The documentation that Edward, his wife Susan, and son, John were in VA in 1623 (Persons of Quality - see notes for Edward) means that John was probably born before 1602. "Both Thomas 1st b bef 1607 and his brother Capt. Richard had already died when John's will was written March 8, 1865. John would have been at least in his mid-20's when Connegan was born. Since she is referred to as the "eldest daughter," one can assume that he had other daughters, and if there were sons, they could have been older and already established. "Thomas 1st's son William (and his 1st wife, "Widow Austin") named his oldest son, John, which may be a kinship indication, as frequently, the oldest might be named for a grandfather, Uncle, or close relative. "Westmoreland Co., VA, Deeds, Direct and Reverse, for surname Walker from the formation of the county in 1653 through the year 1750: Jan 18, 1664, John Walker from Seth Foster, Deed, Deed Book 1, page 249. "Unfortunately, many of the records on ancestry.com incorrectly reflect that this John is the John Walker that married Rachel Crowshaw and died April 17,1713, another Walker group. "Will of John Walker: Westmoreland Co., VA Deeds and Wills, No. 1, 1652-1671, pages 291-291 (Compilers note: the below may have some typos and the reference to "orphan" should be plural but still would be confusing): "In the name of God amen; I, John Walker of the county of Westmoreland being sick in body but in perfect sense and memory and calling to mind the state and frailty of man in this transitory life knowing that all flesh must die doe therefore bequeath my soul unto the Almight God which giveth life and my body to the earth and all my worldy goods in form and like manner as follows: Imprimis: It is my will to make my well beloved friend Thomas Dodson my administrator and to take a true and just inventroy of what estate I shall have and to take such course and care for it to the best advancement of it as that I hope will be done. As witness my hand and seal. John Walker Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Richard Saunders Richard Holding 8th March 1665. This will was proved and then recorded." (Compiler's note: Richard Holding came over with John on Edward's ship. Richard had a plantation adjoining Edward Walker.) "In reviewing the above will, Thomas Lamkin was located in FamilySearch in June 2005. He was b abt. 1620 Northumberland Co., m abt 1642 Ellenor b abt 1825 d bef 1647 when John was born to Connegan (Walker) who appears to be Thomas Lamkin's 2nd wife.
