Hi Graham,

I too have often looked at the Seamans in Milverton and Halberton and wonder about a connection. I think it is something worth looking into.
My Thomas SEAMAN (b:1814, Halberton) is the son of John SEAMAN and Sarah ANSTY. I think that John was born 18.09.1775 and christened under the name of Cook or Seaman. While there seems to be some debate over why the Seamans used the name Cook I'm inclined to believe that it may have been in connection to land titles. Something which I need to look into when time permits. Harriett Vickery was indeed born in Stawley, SOM., the Vickery line has been traced back to the 1600's.
