Hello I am searching for information on my father-in-law's family. We don't have a lot to go on, but I do have a copy of his birth certificate. He was given up to a foster family at the age of 7 or 8 so be raised by them, but he does have fague memories of his family. Here's what we know: My father-in-law was born in 1918 in Mt Vernon, Washington. His birth certificate states his father's name as "Hanry Ernest Sunders", (name could actually be Henry and last name could be Sanders,Sonders, or Saunders). "Hanry" was 33 years old (so birth year would be 1885) and was born in Manitoba, Canada. It states he was a mill man. My father-in-law's mother's name is listed as "Mary Olive Robersen" (could be Ralersen, or Roberson. Her age was 28 years old (so birth year would be 1890)and was born in Washington. The doctor listed on the birth certificate is Dr. George Buynton of Mt Vernon, Washington. Both parents are listed as "White" and my father-in-law was their 4th child. My father-in-law remembers the older siblings as being boys and believes they were sent to Seattle to live in a home for wayward boys, while he was sent to live on Orcas Island to work the land for the Martin family. (he later adopted the Martin name). I have ordered copies of the 1920 census for Skagit County so am hopeful to get information on his family that way. But, I am need of anyone who knows of this family to contact me, or if they have any helpful hints on how to obtain information please contact me. I would love to present any findings to my father-in-law. He is now 83 years old and it would be a wonderful gift to give him. Thank you. Denise Martin |
