thanks Darrell. Your Lucius Cicero was uncle to Lucius Elmer, whose father was Horace Eugene Vroman, (b 1833 Delaware Co, OH to Adam and Caroline).
I got to this forum because, when I was looking for info about Winnie, I turned up a posting on this list in which the author was looking for her cousin Winnie (nee Vroman) who had married...(all info fit the woman I was looking for)and whose father was Lucius Elmer Vroman. I have been unable to contact the woman who posted that info, but I have assumed her info was correct (the famous genealogist's "other people's data"), that the Lucius she named was , in fact, Winnie biological father. How he met Elsie Ann Brooks is another question, but as there were Vromans living nearby Elsie's farm in Isabella Co, MI, the cousin-visiting theory was hatched.
Since I wrote that message, I learned that Winnie (the illegitimate child) was raised by the Vromans of Isabella Co, MI, the ones who lived on Vroman Rd, and she was registered in the very-nearby school as Winifred Vroman, even tho' her mother had married when Winnie was 4. So perhaps the child was living with the family of her biological father, or perhaps the Vromans adopted her. Really hard to know!
As all involved are long gone, this theory may be all we ever get. But I appreciate your reply.
