Dear Heather, I think I can help you with some more details on the two Professors mentioned by Margriet. C W Vollgraff (my great uncle) was indeed Professor of Greek at Utrecht University and an important figure in the development of classical archaeology in the last century. His father, J C Vollgraff, held the post of Professor of Greek literature at Brussels. My grandfather, Carl Willem Vollgraff, was a Judge (as was his father), serving in the International Court of Justice in the Hague. The family played a very active part in the legal, medical and academic life of Holland in the last century, and is by no means moribund. Best wishes, Donald Volgraff Crowther
