Thank you so much for the information. My ggrandfather, Andy Leonard and his father, Arthur Leonard, both were "millers". It is Andy's oldest son, Vivian Anderson Leonard, who appears to have been named for the Vivians.
They removed to Texas from Canada sometime in the 1890s along with Andy's two brothers-in-law, George and John Anderson, who built a fairly large mill. The mill was for the most part a family affair as the entire family worked there. The Andersons immigrated to Canada from Ayrshire, Scotland, sometime ca 1860.
My ggrandfather and his father both lived in Oakland, Brant Co., Ont. I rather suspect they all worked at the Vivian mill at one time or another. After talking with other family members, we finally concluded my grandfather was named for the Vivian's as there is no other logical reason for the naming.
Almost all the family who remained in Canada are buried in the Scotland Cemetery, Oakland, Brant County and in Norfolk County.
I appreciate all your information.
